COMPOUND ADJECTIVES
What are compound adjectives?
A compound adjective is formed when two
or more adjectives are joined together to describe the same noun. In the
compound adjectives, the words are separated by a hyphen. We should note that
combining an adverb and an adjective does not create a compound adjective. For
example- It was a terribly hot day, here 'terribly hot' is not a compound
adjective because the adverb 'terribly' modifies the adjective ‘hot’ and does
not directly describe the day. A few
examples of compound adjectives are:
- Harry is a part-time worker.
- Beware of the green-eyed monster.
- He is a cold-blooded man.
I was
amazed to see the snow-capped mountains at North
